A Red Bull Curates Project
Featuring Artists Prefab77 & RemiRough
Late last year we were invited into the inner circle on an extremely exciting project in Birmingham championed by some of the finest string pullers in the music events industry. The Gibb St Warehouse instantly ignited the creative element of what we do here at Unit44 and we went to work on some ideas revolving around the Music Slash Arts formula.
The Outcome of those few weeks were the confirmed involvement of Newcastle collective Prefab77 who are no strangers to this level of install, finishing, and collaboration having lent their trademark graphic imagery to California, New York, London, Tokyo, and Barcelona on various projects. On the jux we called upon London based RemiRough of the infamous Agents Of Change collective. Remi comes to us on the back of announcing the involvement of Mare 139 & Augustine Kofie to the AOC fold and tackling probably the most visually impressive outdoor commissions London has seen. Safe to say we have the guy on a little bit of a high. His bright contemporary abstract shapes and use of colour will provide the ‘pop’ against the pattern weaving graphic imagery of Prefab77. It’s a collaboration that has been sat like a coiled spring simply waiting for the right project.
Like all things in this business the drive, determination, sweat and tears just doesn’t pay the bills. Thankfully for us Red Bull Curates stepped in during the early stages with nothing but admiration for the projects ambitions. Working with them has turned visions of grandeur into reality and we started work in the space yesterday, Saturday 24th March 2012. We work along side joiners, electricians, sound tech, and light engineers to complete before launch.
With a mission statement to deliver a truly bespoke clubbing experience Gibb St Warehouse combines the ethos and feel of the early Acid House warehouse parties backed up with state of the art technology and diverse bookings inc…

A huge thank you is necessary to Red Bull, everyone from the Gibb St Warehouse who shared in our enthusiasm and vision for the project, and of course RemiRough & Prefab77.
Day one featured a full site tour and straight to the grind with Prefab77. The Custard Factory where the warehouse space is situated is at first glance the creative quarter of Birmingham with small shops, businesses, and café’s. A stone throw from the venue stands tall the huge new INSA mural, traditional graff pieces, and even the odd 2008 Sickboy throw up.
At hand as always is David Bilbrough capturing the project as it unfolds. We’ll be trying our best to keep you up to date with our progress. Unit-44.com/blog
